house design rules of thumb

kristina: hi everyone! kristina here. i'mback in la with jenn. what's your channel name? jenn: cupcakes and cardio. kristina: awesome! she does amazing cookingtutorials and recipes and things like that, but today we aren't going to do any of that.we are going to do some paper crafting. when i talked with jenn about what she wanted todo for our video you mentioned that you are a teacher, right? jenn: yes, i teach kindergarten. so i wasthinking anything that i could use in my other job as well would be awesome. kristina: cool. so we're going to make somereally fun kind of holiday thumb print art

cards. they can even be framed and put onthe wall or put on your mantle for the holidays. it's kind of fun. i talked to my sister aboutmy niece, who's just about to turn 5, asked her for some crafts that she loves to do.so a big thanks to my sister. we're going to head over to the table and get started. kristina: okay so little children have smallerfingers than adults obviously, so we're not going to be using our thumbs, but if you aredoing this with your children or with your class you probably would have to have themuse their thumbs. we are going to use our pointer finger, or our...what did you callit? jenn: index.

kristina: index fingers, there we go. we aregoing to start with the wreath. i'm going to go ahead and take these covers off ourink pads. using a light green, dark green and then a brown. we'll use the brown on thereindeer. so we are going to start with the lighter green and just get your finger andjust start making your wreath shape. it goes super fast. i like to rotate and turn, soi kind of get a different shape with each little print. you can do this with paint orwith inks. i like to use inks because they dry really fast and you can clean them upeasy. kristina: yours is so perfect. (laughing)

jenn: that's the only thing. kristina: okay, so now we are going to gointo the dark green and just kind of fill in the little spots. jenn: yeah. kids will love this. they lovegetting their hands like finger painting or what not. they love getting dirty. kristina: getting messy. jenn: yep. kristina: alright, and then really east we'retaking a red crayola marker. i'm going to try to not get ink all over it. but i'm justdrawing a cute little bow. here you go.

jenn: okay. kristina: super fast and easy. jenn: oops, that's why i need your help. kristina: cool. now we have little cards withwreaths on them. so now we are going to go ahead and make a christmas tree. kind of thesame idea. we are going to start with the lighter green. go ahead and just put the samefinger in the lighter green. jenn: does it matter if we start at the topor the bottom? kristina: nope. you can start at the top andkind of move down. the thing that's nice about this is you can, it's really casual free form.if you need to make it a little large just

add a thumb print or finger print. jenn: you've done this before. kristina: you know what? the first time doingit was making these samples. so... jenn: really? kristina: yeah. cool. so after you have yourtree shape go ahead and add the darker green in. jenn: k kristina: synchronized printing. jenn: and go kristina: 1. we were totally synchronizedthere for awhile.

kristina: lovely. then i'll just take thebrown marker do some little swiggles at the very bottom for our trunk. and then some littlecircle scribbles. jenn: for little christmas bulbs? kristina: yep. for little ornaments. jenn: so cute! i'm definitely taking thisidea home. kristina: yeah! so here's my little tree card.so cute. okay we are going to do rudolph. the last little one. now in my example i havelittle googley eyes, but we are going to show you another option, by just using a marker.so in case you're doing this with even younger children, like preschooler they can do thiswithout having to deal with all the gluing

and all that. jenn: and it's harder for them to manipulatethe tiny objects. kristina: absolutely. we are going to useour middle fingers, because we have green on this one. so we will switch to the otherone. in fact we'll move these aside. we are just going to use this brown color and whati like to do is sort of get and oval shape made out of the thumb prints. it's going tobe the shape of his head. then i took my pinky finger and used that to create the ears. justone on each side. now i'm going to take the red marker, give him a little nose. thereyou go. then the brown and i'm going to give him some cute little eyes.

jenn: super cute! kristina: my rudolph looks like he's chewingsomething. like his cheek is totally off to the side. you know. whatever. when littlekids do it, it's adorable. when adults do it, it just looks like we don't know how todraw. jenn: which i don't anyway. kristina: anyway this is just a really funchristmas craft that you can do with your children and i'm so happy that you were herein la at the same time i was here and we could do this project together. go ahead and checkout jenn's channel, cupcakes and cardio. she does amazing cooking and recipes and lotsof really fun kid’s food too, right?
